The Bourbon Genre

The Bourbon Genre. What exactly is it anyway? Is it a bird, flying badly with an injured wing, but looking good doing it? Is it a plane, streaking through the night sky, destination unknown? Here at bourbonhours.com the meaning of the term has been a matter of philosophical debate, metaphysical wrangling, verbal hijinks, and, at times, good old fashioned Indian wrestling. To nail it down we’ve employed bourbon straight up, bourbon on ice, bourbon with mix, bourbon in our gas tank, and we even called in a priest once (to bless a barrel), but the definition remains elusive. “Further research necessary” i think is the way that Sazerac put it.

The bourbon genre is the inspiration for everything that we do, here, and a lot of what we do, out there. SO it’s a here and there thing…but that too is a bit unsatisfying. Screw it then, let’s frame the bastard in some kind of rough lumber and be done with it….

The Bourbon Genre is…hillbilly, blues, and jazz, with a tendency to wander and a definite wobble in the gait.
